Questions agents ask us

Before you quote your client.

How big a group can Horizon Blue take to the Daymaniyat Islands?

Up to 200 guests. We run everything from a couple on the sharing trip to groups of 50, 100 or 200. Large groups are planned as a schedule: guests are split across boats and departure times, every boat has a licensed captain, and everyone gets the same reef time, gear and refreshments. Send us the number and your dates and we reply with a written plan.

Is the trip suitable for children, older guests and non-swimmers?

Yes. We take guests of every age. Children aged 3 to 12 pay a child rate on the sharing trip and under-3s travel free. Life jackets are provided for every guest and are required for anyone who is not a confident swimmer, and guests who prefer not to swim can stay on board under the shade and watch turtles from the deck.

Do you work with travel agents, tour operators and DMCs?

Yes, it is a large part of our business. Agents and DMCs get partner rates with up to 30% commission, live availability through our partner portal, confirmations with your company name on them, and a direct WhatsApp line to the crew. Groups and custom programmes are quoted individually. Apply at horizonblueom.com/partners or send us your group details.

What is included in a Horizon Blue trip?

The boat and a licensed captain, snorkelling gear (masks, snorkels, fins and life jackets), drinking water, juice, sandwiches, fresh fruit and snacks on board. The Daymaniyat Islands reserve permit (OMR 3 per adult, OMR 1 per child on the sharing trip) is arranged by us and added to the booking, so guests never deal with the Ministry themselves.

What is the best time of year for European groups to visit?

October to May, which lines up with the European autumn, winter and spring. The sea is at its calmest, visibility is at its best and the water is around 26°C in winter. From 1 November to 30 April the island beaches reopen for landing, so full-day trips can include beach time and an Omani BBQ. Whale sharks pass through from June to November.

Where do the trips leave from and how far is it from the airport?

All trips leave from Al Mouj Marina in Muscat, about 15 minutes from Muscat International Airport and 25 minutes from central Muscat. The boat ride to the Daymaniyat Islands takes 45 to 50 minutes. Oman is on GST (UTC+4), three hours ahead of Central European Time in winter.

How far ahead should a group book?

Couples and small groups can often book a few days ahead. For groups of 50 or more, give us four to six weeks so boats and departure times can be locked in; for 200 guests or more, the earlier the better, especially from November to March.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we cancel for weather, the trip is rescheduled or refunded in full. For groups on a tight itinerary we suggest keeping a backup date in the programme, so a windy morning does not cost the group its trip.

Plan it with us
